It’s been a busy two weeks for the Carolina Excellence team. Here are a few updates:
- I shared an overview of the Carolina Excellence Initiative with the Board of Trustees Strategic Framework committee on Wednesday, Nov. 14. I also visited the Employee Forum on Wednesday, Nov. 7 to share an update. You can read a story about this presentation in the University Gazette.
- Listening Tours: The team continued our tours with directors of the research centers and institutes, along with Frank Porter Graham and Sheps centers.
- HR hiring process (one of the early impact projects): We’ve selected the Gillings School of Global Public Health and Office of Vice Chancellor for Research as the two groups to participate in our pilot. We had an initial meeting with representatives from the groups to introduce the pilot and explain the important role they will play in developing changes to the hiring process that will eventually be implemented across the campus.
- Redesign teams: Launched the work of three redesign teams in the areas of human resources, finance and research administration. These teams will work independently of the early impact teams and explore how their respective departments need to evolve to meet the changing needs of the University.
Please feel free to share these emails with your colleagues. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org .
I won’t send a message next week because the University will be closed for the Thanksgiving break. Wishing you and your family a happy Thanksgiving!
