As we wind down our work on Carolina Excellence for the year, I want to thank everyone who has contributed their time and ideas to transforming the University’s administrative operations. Your hard work is helping to move Carolina toward achieving our strategic goals. To capture some of the year’s successes, see the infographic below to see what we’ve accomplished.

Here are a few highlights from this past week:

  • HR and procurement pilot projects: The two early impact teams held multiple workshops to further develop checklists and dashboards to track progress as part of their work to fully pilot their solutions. The project to improve the hiring process is being piloted in the Gillings School of Global Public Health and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, while the pilot procurement project to improve for processing payments of $250 or less is underway in the School of Dentistry and Athletics.
  • Redesign teams: Team members from human resources, finance and research administration participated in their fourth workshop to prioritize the initiatives they will tackle in their respective departments to meet the changing needs of the University.
  • Listening tours: We held listening sessions with the chancellor’s office and UNC Global. As we close out the year, we have completed 50 sessions across schools and departments, engaging more than 400 faculty and staff, who have shared more than 100 “pain points” across the administrative functions.
