Hi everyone,

The Carolina Excellence team continues to feel the positive momentum across the campus as we roll out new tools and processes. Be sure to read The University Gazette’s story, The Next Pursuit of Excellence, to learn more about our progress to date and to hear from colleagues who are already experiencing the benefits of the hiring playbook and tools for the small-dollar spend project in procurement.

  • Individuals in the first cohort of schools and units are getting acclimated to the new ways of working. One way is through war rooms, or online communities in human resources and procurement, where employees gather virtually several times a week to discuss implementation processes and progress. Those teams already see the advantages of this collaboration. I want to thank the hiring war room leaders: Sara Reese, Roseanda Hall and Robin Willow-Johnson; and for procurement, John Medlin.
  • Provost Robert A. Blouin continues to champion Carolina Excellence by visiting schools and departments to share an overview. This week he visited Dean Fouad Abd-El-Khalick and the School of Education to meet with faculty and staff. The Carolina Excellence team appreciates the time schools and departments have given our efforts.

Please feel free to share this email with your colleagues. You can also visit our website, carolinaexcellence.unc.edu to learn more about Carolina Excellence and to see all of my previous updates. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at wernoski@email.unc.edu .

Best,

Rick
