Hi everyone,

Here are a few highlights from the Operational Excellence work this week:

  • The Operational Excellence Steering Committee met on Wednesday, and we welcomed additional leaders: Thank you to Christi Hurt, Lukasz Mazur, Mike Barker, Tanya Moore and Terry Magnuson for joining that effort. We had a lively conversation about our two new projects, roles and responsibilities and the research project lifecycle, and the direction those design teams are headed. Thank you to Andy Johns, Linc Butler, Brian Smith, Noreen Montgomery, Beau Jimmerson, Christy Dodson, Bonnie Smith, Christin Daniels and Cara Marlow for presenting your work. Operational Excellence would not be where it is without the work you and your colleagues are doing on these projects.
  • Our new Operational Excellence transformation managers are hard at work in our design team efforts: Candace Reynolds is focused on roles and responsibilities for research and finance; Mieke Lynch is the liaison for roles and responsibilities in human resources; and Jason Derrick is managing the research project lifecycle effort. Sarah Leck joins the team as my executive assistant.
  • The University Gazette posted a Q&A with me talking about the early successes of Operational Excellence.

Please feel free to share this email with your colleagues. You can also visit our website to learn more about Operational Excellence and to see all of my previous updates. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at wernoski@email.unc.edu.

Best,

Rick
