OE Weekly Update – 2/28/20

Good afternoon,

At the Office of Sponsored Research Town Hall this afternoon, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research David Paul announced the rollout of two solutions for the Carolina research community: the Engagement Partnership and Research Playbooks. These solutions were developed by our Research Design Team to help streamline the award set-up process for federal, industry, and non-profit sponsored research and then tested through a pilot of 11 units.

  • The Engagement Partnership will strengthen collaboration between units and central offices while improving transparency and response times.
  • The three Research Playbooks will clarify roles and responsibilities and provide best practices to accelerate award set-up.

Playbooks will soon be accessible on OSR’s website. Training on how to use these tools will be made available online with plans of engagement developed in collaboration with campus partners.

This initiative began almost a full year ago. It has gone through several iterations, changed scope, and involved faculty, staff, and administrators from across campus. I am proud of the agility and dedication the design team has showed throughout this process. Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback, offered new ideas and, most of all, been open to a new way of doing things.
