Good afternoon,

As the semester winds down and we begin exam week, I would love to highlight the work of the Carolina Together Ambassadors for one last time this semester. As you know, the CTA program was relaunched in Fall 2021 to support our response to COVID-19, combining customer service, event management, and building operations support to promote positive health behaviors and the COVID-19 Community Standards. Most importantly, Ambassadors strived every day to make Carolina’s campus friendlier, safer, easier to navigate, and a bit more like “home.”

For any program or process planning to be implemented, it is essential to monitor how things are going, troubleshoot when needed, and consistently strive to create high-functioning operations. To evaluate any effort, one of the first steps is to choose metrics, or key performance indicators, that will be evaluated periodically to show if a program is meeting its objectives. As our university’s needs are ever-changing, we knew that this year the CTA program would need a strong foundation of process improvement, driven by the monitoring of key data points.

This infographic summarizes some of the key achievements of the CTA program this semester. We hope that the brief data-story CTA has told reflects the positive impact the Ambassadors made this semester within our campus community.

On any given day of Fall 2021, there were over a dozen Ambassadors working at various locations around campus with one primary question displayed: “How can I help?” If you saw an Ambassador at one of their many locations across campus, we hope that you stopped to say hello or ask a question you may have had about the community standards. If you were lucky, you may have walked away with a Golden Ticket!

CTA Program Coordinator, Amie Sigmann, would love to hear about your experience with the program. Please do not hesitate to share any anecdotes from this semester or feedback about the CTA program to her directly at asigmann@unc.edu.

As always, please feel free to share this email with your colleagues. You can also visit our website to learn more about Operational Excellence, read my previous updates and submit feedback. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at wernoski@email.unc.edu. I read every email.

Thanks,
Rick
