Hey everybody. I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend – and enjoyed their short week of work. Here is a brief recap of Operational Excellence work from the week:

  • The Research Team continues to design solutions to expedite the award negotiation. One deliverable will be a more streamlined notification system to better inform research administrators and bring more transparency to the pre-award process. They are also working to cultivate new mindsets around negotiating contract terms. Additionally, the team is building a playbook to support research administrators in the pre-award process. These solutions are designed with the goal of cutting award setup time in half!
  • The Travel & Expense Team is working on tools that will eventually live on a dedicated UNC travel website. These will include checklists, links to updated policies, quick reference and booking guides.
  • The HR Team continued working in two groups to address student employment and position management. The student employment group is working on resources that will be hosted on a “one-stop-shop” website for most students working at UNC. The position management group is preparing to share their work with the HR Business Process subcommittee for their feedback on the updated standard principal functions. We will report back on that next week.
