Good afternoon,

Setting guiding principles for how your team approaches their work is essential in establishing a clear framework and shared values.  These principles provide a roadmap that fosters a unified and strategic approach.

The guiding principles below serve as the foundation for the Operational Excellence team’s approach to opportunities for operational improvement.

  • We will engage the whole UNC community in a structured, collaborative and transparent process.
  • We will provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are essential to the success of our projects.
  • We will facilitate solution design in partnership with subject matter experts. There are no predetermined solutions.
  • We will identify a desired end state and work backwards from that end state.
  • We will strive to build a culture of continuous improvement.

Does your team have established guiding principles? Share them with us!

Speaking of team, I’d like to share some exciting news. I’m pleased to welcome David Hare as OE’s newest transformation manager. David comes to OE with over a decade of experience in higher education and private-sector consulting. David spent almost six years in sales at Gartner before transitioning to UNC Kenan-Flagler as an Assistant Director of Career Services. He completed his Executive MBA at Kenan-Flagler in 2022. Welcome to the OE team, David. We can’t wait to see what you will accomplish.
