Good afternoon,

In the spirit of continuous improvement, the Operational Excellence team has recently been examining its onboarding process. Last month, after 5 weeks in the role, David Hare conducted interviews with the team to gather valuable insights into the onboarding experience. These interviews formed the basis for an internal workshop, which provided the team with an opportunity to define both our current and target onboarding process. This internal workshop provided a platform for us to refine our internal operations and to experiment with activities typically utilized in external design teams.

I’m excited to welcome transformation managers Carson Flynn and Evan Widney to the OE team. Carson Flynn joins us from Duke University, where he worked on a wide breadth of event management, program development, and training delivery projects. Carson will be working as an embedded transformation manager in the School of Nursing. Evan Widney comes to Operational Excellence after a decade at Duke University where he supported outcomes assessment, program evaluation, and continuous improvement as the Manager for Accreditation in the Office of the Provost. Evan will be working as an embedded transformation manager in the College of Arts and Sciences. Welcome to the OE team, Carson and Evan. We can’t wait to see what you both will accomplish.

Please feel free to share this email with your colleagues. You can also visit our website to learn more about Operational Excellence, read my previous updates, and submit feedback. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at wernoski@email.unc.edu. I read every email.

Best,
